The short version
We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not require an account to read anything on this site.
What we collect
A session cookie so the site works across pages, and your saved display preferences from the accessibility panel, which are stored in your own browser and never sent to us. Our web server keeps standard access logs containing IP address, timestamp, requested URL, and browser user agent, which we use to diagnose faults and detect abuse.
Third parties that receive a request when you load a page
Several parts of this site load content directly from other organisations. When that happens, your browser contacts them and they can see your IP address. We list them because you deserve to know who your browser is talking to.
- NOAA National Weather Service, for radar imagery
- NOAA STAR, for satellite imagery
- Google Fonts, for typefaces
- Google Translate, only if you choose a language other than English
We do not embed advertising networks, social media pixels, or session recording.
Your choices
You can clear the site's stored preferences at any time by clearing your browser data for this domain, or with the Reset button in the accessibility panel. To ask what we hold about you, or to have access logs relating to you removed, write to us using the address on the contact page.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
